If a place has a clear identity (something in particular it is known for) it can make it a rather special place. An identity can perpetuate in many forms and this provides tangible gains – in a cultural and economic sense. What gives a place its identity? People do, of course.
In the case of Wells (Somerset) there is a connection we can make with film and the arts and Wells’ sons and daughters – those who have been educated in the City and thereafter gone out into the wider world, making a name for themselves in the process, and so shining a light on Wells itself. This can in turn inspire the next generation to follow in their footsteps.
